Job Description

Position: Medical Physicist
Location: Tyler, Texas, USA
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Medical Physicist to join a community-based oncology center in Tyler, Texas. The center treats an average of 40 patients per day and runs active PSI and HDR programs with over 300 HDR treatments annually. The Medical Physicist will collaborate with a multidisciplinary radiation therapy team, ensuring high-quality patient care, maintaining equipment performance, and supporting clinical and regulatory operations. Periodic travel to nearby network centers may be required.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate radiation therapy equipment for performance, reliability, and lifespan, recommending updates or replacements

  • Contribute to the design and implementation of quality management programs for external beam radiotherapy

  • Manage radiation oncology information systems, including protocols, maintenance, and data storage

  • Oversee radiation safety, including monitoring, reporting, and compliance with regulations

  • Lead or participate in clinical projects to improve department processes or patient treatments

  • Support SRS, SBRT, and HDR treatment planning and execution

  • Collaborate with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, therapists, and other staff for optimal patient outcomes

Qualifications:

  • CAMPEP Accredited Residency Program in Medical Physics

  • Valid Texas Medical Board license

  • American Board of Radiology certification or board eligible

  • Preferred: 2+ years of experience as a certified Medical Physicist

  • Working knowledge of SRS, SBRT, HDR procedures

  • Experience with Varian linear accelerators, Eclipse and Oncentra planning systems

  • Strong organizational, oral, and written communication skills

Schedule:

  • Full-Time, standard workweek

  • May require periodic travel to other network sites
